Why the Sun and the Moon Live in the Sky
Long ago, the Sun and the Moon lived together on Earth as close friends. The Sun was bright, warm, and full of energy, while the Moon was calm, gentle, and reflective. They lived in a beautiful house near the ocean, where they spent their days laughing, talking, and enjoying each other's company.
One day, the Sun had an idea. "Why don't we invite the Water to visit us?" he said to the Moon. "The Water is vast and powerful, and it would be wonderful to have him as our guest."
The Moon hesitated. "But our house is small," she said. "The Water is so big. What if he doesn't fit?"
The Sun laughed. "Don't worry! We'll make room. It will be fine."
So, the Sun and the Moon sent an invitation to the Water, asking him to visit their home. The Water was delighted and accepted the invitation. On the day of the visit, the Sun and the Moon prepared their house, cleaning and decorating to make it welcoming.
When the Water arrived, he brought with him all his creatures—fish, crabs, whales, and many others. The Sun and the Moon greeted him warmly and invited him inside. At first, the Water only filled the doorway, but as he entered, he began to rise higher and higher. The Sun and the Moon had to step back to make room.
"Come in, come in!" the Sun said cheerfully, not realizing how much space the Water would take.
The Water continued to rise, filling the house until the Sun and the Moon were forced to climb onto the roof. Still, the Water kept rising, and soon the Sun and the Moon had no choice but to leap into the sky to escape.
From that day on, the Sun and the Moon lived in the sky, where they could look down on the Earth and the vast Water below. The Sun shines brightly during the day, while the Moon glows softly at night, and they continue to be close friends, watching over the world together.
